This training has been designed based on the local Jordanian and regional context. This training session targets staff of International and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) that provide case management, protection, and other services to beneficiaries.
This training provides tools to educate staff members on the topics of gender and sexual diversity within your organization. The training aims to develop participants’ inclusivity skills in Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) related planning and programming.
The set of activities and exercises are arranged in a way that encourages participants to reflect on their own professional experiences and deconstruct their prior understandings on SOGIE issues. This allows colleagues to have open discussions about referral pathways, protection needs and other services to improve inclusivity within the workplace. Participants then are able to acquire this knowledge gained from the training to observe their programs and departments performance regarding inclusivity.
This training program aims to achieve the following goals:
-Review key terminology and concepts related to SOGIE, both as they are defined in
international treaties and understood in local contexts.
-Raise participants’ awareness about refugees and other individuals in Jordan who
experience SOGIE-related protection concerns.
-Inform participants about the legal frameworks in Jordan directly affecting SOGIE
persons of concern.
-Review the policies, values, and codes of conduct of the organization to refresh
participants’ understanding of the importance of SOGIE issues to their work.
After training sessions are completed, personalized feedback and a post-training report on staff members’ performance will be provided. This post-training report will include recommendations for improvements to specific departments.
A contextualized workshop for agencies, organizations, and businesses that are unfamiliar with language and concepts related to gender identity and sexual orientation. Currently, most workplaces have policies targeting discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation, however, organizations still find it challenging to discuss these issues due to the sensitivity within the local context. Therefore, SOGIE related issues are completely dismissed by organizations/companies causing LGBTQ staff members and clients to be continuously isolated and discriminated against within the workplace.
The goal of facilitating this conversation is to identify the attitudes of staff and management within the organization/company. By opening an inclusive conversation, this allows staff members to better understand the companies policies and regulations set in a place for the safety of LGBTQ individuals. Staff is able to reflect on how policies and regulations need to be more practiced on a daily basis in order to further promote acceptance and respect towards all staff and clients. This workshop helps management develop the proper reporting mechanisms to hold staff members accountable for discriminatory behavior.
Hasan has previously facilitated conversations on topics including code of conduct,
organization policies, discrimination reporting, gender-segregated spaces, and
gender-inclusive environments.
This short term consultancy will add a Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) perspective in reviewing the organization’s programs, fieldwork, case management, applications, HR policies, data collection and more.
During this short term consultancy, there will be specific conversations with each targeted department to discuss the inclusivity of LGBTQ persons and the importance of understanding the sensitivity of issues related to SOGIE persons.
This consultancy is customized for each organization’s strategy planning for
implementing SOGIE related solutions. Organizations that aim to create
inclusive
policies and target diverse communities must conduct data analysis within
their
department programs. Through this consultancy, the organizations’ activities
will be thoroughly reviewed and evaluated based on their SOGIE
approach.
Hasan has provided diverse lectures for international and local students at various universities on gender and sexual diversity regarding the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA). These lectures are impactful and rare since there is a lack of discussion on Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) topics within universities. It is crucial to discuss these topics with students since these are issues they will face later in their professions within the workplace.
